From the book:
A bloodied stranger stumbles in from the night, half bent from exhaustion and pain. Behind him looms a cart with a rider draped, half-dead, across its seat. But what intrigues Tyler most is the deep breathing that only he seems able to hear. As he draws closer to investigate, the gloom behind the bars fades to reveal a most horrific animal, a beast that whispers words of warning…

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
When I was young my favourite books were the likes of the Lord of the Rings. I always remember admiring the rich detail, the maps, the amazing book covers, and wishing I could read the saga (which I attempted to do although potentially only young enough to understand some of it!). What I decided to do was to take all the elements that I loved about the Lord of the Rings, but make it more accessible to a younger audience. I wanted it to feel like a treasured item to hold, with so much detail that that reader would keep flipping back through the pages well after they were finished with it.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
I always would start with what their voices sounded like in my imagination. From there I would brainstorm the history of each character to make sure I had a well fleshed out figure that had dimension and history!
