What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
This book is based on the small town where I grew up in Southern Appalachia. Over the years, I have wanted to write story that is a tribute to that beautiful countryside and its people. However, I did decide to include a little murder, mayhem, and romance to spice things up. What is real and what is fiction will remain my little secret!
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
My characters are composites of various people and personalities that I have encountered over the years. A few historic characters are included for authenticity of the times and places.

DALLAS, TEXAS, not too long ago
I stand at the window of my office for the last time. I look out at the Dallas skyline that has changed so much in the years that I’ve lived and worked here. It’s a sad day but there is a new day tomorrow.
Sand Mountain Electronics has been my baby. I’ve made money, lost money, and played the game for as long as I care to do so.
I feel a tiny tear form in my right eye. I wipe it away and let my hand fall to the small gold cross that I wear beneath my shirt. I never take it off. Ever. It’s been with me through every victory, every loss, and every stop that I have taken since that memorable summer when I was young and innocent.
But now, finally, it’s time to pay back.
