Sherry K. Hill is a non-fiction author who is also the Founder and CEO of Sherry’s World Of Baksets and Books furnishing surprise gift baskets, treat bags, and Christmas gifts. Sherry coordinates all aspects of her love for people, education, and business into her company. A strong believer in expressing joy in everything she does, Sherry’s business mantra is “We Give Life and Celebrate Happiness”.
Before starting Sherry’s World Of Baskets and Books, Sherry always admired the secretaries in the clerical field since the age of 8 years old. She studied intently and excelled academically as an honor student in this field, as well as her other studies. Sherry has had more than 40 years of clerical experience. In addition, Sherry spent her early teenage years ministering before her local church congregation; she continued her ministry throughout her adulthood. Furthermore, Sherry would express herself creatively with dressmaking and interior design.
Through Sherry’s varied background in office support, church ministry, and creative arts, she has been provided with the perfect foundation for Sherry’s World Of Baskets and Books. Her first book, entitled This Is My Fiance, And We Are Going To Get Married…….NOT! is A Reference Guide On How To Get Married. Since Sherry was married for 29 years (and has been platonically divorced for 15 years) with two adult daughters, she can help other women through her experiences. Sherry’s next book is entitled, The Secrets Of Living A Free and Happy Life, in which she will thoroughly document her experience of being bullied in elementary school, as well as the difference between external and internal happiness.
What inspires you to write?
I am so inspired to write books because of my intense, enthusiastic, fiery and emotional subject matter that stimulates me at that moment.
Tell us about your writing process.
I love to write outlines. First, I number the digits 1-10 on a piece of paper. Then, I list the subject titles in which I feel have a very high degree of intensity needed for my book.
What advice would you give other writers?
The advice I would give to other writers is to write about that which they are deeply passionate about, thereby communicating the desired impact they want to get across to their readers.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
My passion was so consuming, therefore I wanted to get the wealth of my experiences, interests and ideas out the fastest and most cost effective way I could. So, I decided to self-publish my books.
I would like to advise new authors to investigate the steps to self-publishing. In this day and time, we are able to publish our own books. People all over the world, who are seeking knowledge from us can have access to our books right away through self-publishing.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I feel that self-publishing has caught on and is catching on more and more.
I learned that 81% of Americans want to write a book but seldom do. However, those who do write their books attempt to publish them through large companies. sadly, about 98% of them receive rejection letters, which can be very discouraging. Therefore, self-publishing by all means is the better choice, especially for new authors.
