What inspires you to write?
Moral dilemmas and choices. Danger. The intersections of people’s self-interest. The magic that exists in our world below the surface of the visible. Futuristic possibilities.
Tell us about your writing process.
I used to be a pantser, but I never finished a story. Now I’m a plotter, and I have a much better track record. I outline my stories in detial using several different methods. I use Scrivener as my go-to tool.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I strain to listen. I talk to my characters (and myself, sometimes) out loud.
What advice would you give other writers?
Finish what you start. Don’t give up!
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I am a big proponent of the indie publishing revolution. Research heavily influenced my decision to self publish my books and stories.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
The future of book publishing connects readers and writers better, and traditionally published books will be competing right alongside indie published books. I like to think that the future of books is diverse—both in terms of writers and readers, and in terms of publishing options.
