About Brenda Kay Winters:
Brenda Kay Winters and her daughter Mignon Morgan have written and published over 70 books. Most are non-fiction, Children’s books like Pix the Rabbit and Political Candidates Biographies and much more. Brenda was born in Vernon, Texas and became a Nurse at the age of 19. She later graduated from Texas Tech University. Brenda had her own Ballet studio. She is a master pianist. She has worked many years as a Nurse and teacher. She was a Jail Nurse and Prison Officer. Brenda and Mignon are from a family of journalist and two family member hold a PhD in English and have taught English and Journalism. Brenda Kay a dn her daughter are gifted writers and love their readers. Brenda Winters lives in the Hill Country just outside of Austin, Texas.
What inspires you to write?
What inspires me? People and animals. I have a twelve year old dog I dearly love. When I worked as a Nurse I had many times to learn from the elderly about life. I am inspired because I love to pass on knowledge and help others to have a better life. Reading is one of life’s best pleasures and I hope you will enjoy my books.
Tell us about your writing process.
When I write, the ideas just come into my mind and I type as I think. I have been called a creative genius.I am also an artist of oils and watercolors and I believe writing is a given talent. I do make notes with my pen and pad beside me.
I use Word on my computer. I get suggestions for books from loved ones and friends.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I put myself in their place. This is how I interact with my characters.
What advice would you give other writers?
Write everyday and focus on spelling skills.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
My Parents died and then my brother who was a Pharmacist got colon cancer and died. My husband drowned in a scuba diving accident so this is when i started writing to ease the pain in my heart.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
Book publishing will grow.
