What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
Donna Mulvenna is horticultural journalist and author who lives in the French Amazon. She is the author of several books including Wild Roots – Coming alive in the Amazon.

Her inspiration to write Your health looks great on you is her way of rebelling against a stereotype she found to be false. “Everybody was warning me about the looming crisis I would face when I turned 50.” “What ever happened to empowering women to embrace this magical turning point in their lives and living a life truly lived?”

It doesn't make a lot of sense to people who are not her kind of wild, but when Donna can’t be found swinging in a hammock or somewhere off the coast reading from her sea kayak, you will find her hurtling along the great rivers of the Amazon.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
The book is a non-fiction book intended for any mature-aged reader.

"You can be gorgeous at thirty, charming at forty, and irresistible for the rest of your life."― Coco Chanel

Part of me dreaded turning 50, and who wouldn’t with talk of young men being chased by cougars, menopausal mayhem, and middle-aged spread? Nevertheless, what I can tell you is that on my 50th birthday I woke up happy, extremely happy, because this was the first year of my life where I felt everything was perfectly in-sync, my health, my lifestyle, myself.

This book is a celebration of turning 50, and it is unquestionably something to celebrate because being 50 isn’t the new thirty, or even the new forty, it is the exciting new fifty.

Reaching 50 today most likely means travel, pursuing passion and purpose, adventure or becoming a successful entrepreneur. Whatever it is, we plan to be doing it for a long while yet.

At 50 we have the benefit of experience, are not concerned about what other people think, have dealt with our emotional baggage and want to spend more time doing what we love. Gone are the days when we were consigned to a supporting role. Today we are living front, centre stage and in full vibrant techno-colour.

But to make sure we can do all these things we need to take care of ourselves, and until now we have probably been guilty of working too hard and living too fast. It’s time to swing the cards in our favour and that doesn’t mean calorie counting, aerobics classes or therapy.

Your health looks great on you gives you 15 tips that are easily achievable and can
be incorporated into your daily life, virtually unnoticed, making you feel more alive than ever.

At an age where health professionals warn of progressive weight gain, hormonal imbalances, and health complications, you can be at your happiest, healthiest and fittest. It's all about maximum reward for minimum effort, having fun, and keeping life simple.
