With the Year of the Demon over, widow Deborah “Debbie” Black is more resolved than ever to put aside her losses: main actor (and human vessel) Jett Black to a murderer’s bomb, and her demon husband Shaker to a new Mistress. Independent studio Pandora Productions has a new trio of paranormal movies to create, and a reputation for mayhem and bloodshed to live down. The year has a stellar beginning: Sheila awakens from her coma, dark witch Leri joins the Pandora team, Jett’s younger brother Brady arrives to finish the movie Jett was working on when he was killed, incubus Vassago Gray’s burgeoning series Incubus has a chance to be picked up by Netflix, and faerie sorceress Myrrh and her army of crowmen stand watch over all. Yet new exceptional scripts are still appearing authored with false names. The perfect setting for haunted isle picture Origin of Fear is available nearby for next to nothing. Vassago may be entering Debbie’s dreams, bent on incubus seduction. When Brady is exposed as an addict fleeing from justice, his days outside a prison cell numbered, Shaker returns in force to possess Brady, tipping the odds in Debbie’s favor. Will the duo’s ruthless resolve be enough to combat the evil demonic shadow preparing to engulf them?

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
This book is the sequel to the previous Unhallowed Love series books, A Good Year and Year of the Demon. Everyone wanted to know what happens next! After my Promise Me series concluded, I began the Unhallowed Love series to tell more about Shaker, a charismatic demon from the last books of the series. He is devilishly fun to write!
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
Many of the characters from the Promise Me Series–Shaker, the vampire Devlin Dalcon, the weresnake Lash, and other paranormals–find their way into this setting of the California indie movie studio Pandora Productions. Some of my characters are necessary to plots (like Vassago, the incubus from Year of the Incubus, a mixture of research and sexiness), while others like Shaker come from dreams I had.
“Give your body what it needs.” What the hell does that mean?
Debbie thought as she dressed. “At least the blood work was good.”
“I think I might fit your needs,” Shaker said with a grin, as he appeared next to her. Debbie let out a yell, and then smacked him on one broad shoulder. “What the hell are you doing here? You don’t contact me for a week, then you pop into my doctor’s appointment?”
“Just being the dutiful spouse,” Shaker said, mock-affronted. “I’m here to defend your right to eat cheesy poofs with abandon and inform your doctor that you are the right size.”
“You are not funny.” Debbie’s eyes narrowed, and she bared her teeth with a sarcastic grimace. “I have gained weight, according to the doctor. I need to go up a size, most likely.”
“I know,” Shaker said more gently. “But it’s okay. I love you and I love your body, just as it is.”
“You’re ripping off Bridget Jones,” Debbie snorted.
“Maybe so, but that doesn’t mean it’s not the truth.” Shaker hugged her. “I do think you’re beautiful, and I don’t want you to be a scrawny bone woman that looks like the wind would blow her away, and is uncomfortable to lay with, literally.”
Debbie laughed. “Now we’re getting at it.”
“You’ve been good?” Shaker said, his expression turning serious. “No problems? This is just routine?”
Debbie nodded. “I feel fine. But where have you been?”
“Being the picture of a dutiful, hardworking spouse, as I said,” Shaker murmured, nuzzling her. “Except for the conjugal relations. I have wholly neglected them.” He slid his hand down along the outside of her breast. “Believe me, I plan to remedy that soon.”
