Suspended from duty pending an extortion investigation, DCI Pat Curzon is forced to watch from the sidelines when the boss of a job recruitment agency is found poisoned to death in her office.
Unimpressed by the bungling way his colleagues are conducting their inquiries and bored to the point of insanity, he decides to investigate the killing himself.
And so away he goes on another Glasgow odyssey, harvesting the murky secrets that his bosses and the British government would prefer us not to know.
Dark but humorous in parts, Whisky Leaks is Book 3 in the Dirty Rouge detective series.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
The incredible cityscape that is Glasgow inspired me to write Whisky Leaks and the two preceding titles in The Dirty Rouge detective series. There is such a sharp-edged look and brooding feel to Scotland's largest city that I actually felt a calling beyond my control to project a noir tale onto it. The city centre's grid-plan of solid sandstone buildings is reminiscent of a mini New York and the hilly streets make one think of San Francisco. More than any other city in Europe – including Paris – Glasgow is everything that is noir, so much so that I feel compelled to represent it and to introduce it to the uninitiated through the peregrinations of DCI Patrick Curzon.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
When I invented DCI Curzon – AKA The Dirty Rouge – I wanted to make him the vilest cop to have ever graced a page and so I gave him dark features and rounded shoulders, so as to project his malicious, misanthropic disposition. But the more I wrote, the more another side of Curzon kept emerging that was actually quite decent. In the end, the character actually seemed to be dictating his own story and I was merely typing it up for him. In Whisky Leaks, all of the characters are original creations that could seem incredible, until, that is, you go searching for comparisons and find that people like these do officially exist.
