This nonfiction book is an inspiration for mothers and caregivers of anyone who is mentally challenged, has Bipolar or Schizo-Affective. 18 year old Reene’s state of mind took her to a fantasy world. Her subconscious took her to the psychiatric ward. This true story is from one mom’s experience as she struggles to understand and help her daughter with her new diagnose.
The book is filled with raw emotions and feelings that a mother goes through when all seems to be going wrong. It shows how the system is flawed at times and what it takes to get help.
In the back of the book is three sections, Terms to understand, which is written to show the behavior of the term: Online resources; and Resources by each state, which includes support groups. You can call any of these resources and they can help you find a place closer to where you live.

Author Bio:
Jo Jo is the mother of three children, her middle child being her most challenging. Living in Oklahoma where resources are limited for a single mother with a special needs child, has made live a real challenge. This caused Jo Jo to focus all of her college learning and understanding on children who have special needs and disabilities. She took one class at a time until she completed her Associates of Arts in Child Development with emphasis on special needs learning.
She gained hands on experience working in Child Development Centers with the children who had special needs. She was given the honor of working with some of the rarest cases.
With her Associates of Arts, her minor is psychology and her hands on experience with children with rare conditions, she began to search for a way to help parents, siblings and caregivers of these children.
Even with all of this training nothing could have prepared her for daughters final diagnoses, Schizo-Affective. The one thing all of her training never taught her was, What is Mental Illness? She realized that other parents could benefit from the knowledge she had began to acquire and to benefit knowing that they were not alone in there own thoughts and feelings. She began to write about her experience.
To relax Jo Jo writes, not only about her experience, but children’s stories. She had read several to children in a daycare setting and will soon be publishing a book of these stories.
I was inspired to write this book by the struggles me and my daughter had endured while coming to terms with her diagnoses.
