THE RULES OF “NORMAL” EATING focuses on beliefs, behavior and feelings that relate to food, body image and weight. It teachers troubled eaters to stop dieting and bingeing and use body signals for appetite to guide food choice and intake. The rules are: 1) Eat when you’re hungry, 2) Choose foods that satisfy you, 3) Eat with awareness and enjoyment, and 4) Stop eating when you’re full or satisfied. The book covers how our beliefs generate our feelings and behavior, how to identify irrational beliefs and make them rational, how core beliefs influence us, and how to create a belief system that is rational and healthy. It is written with lots of humor and is highly user friendly.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I knew a great deal about overeating and undereating from my personal experience and also understood what it took to recover. I melded my personal experience and my professional, clinical learning as a social worker to put together a book that is like on-the-page therapy and is full of the wisdom I’ve gained over the decades.
