Cover-GoodReadsA tale of myth, mystery, and a past long forgotten… Something is out there. And the people live in constant fear. But their biggest threat lies within their own village. Everyone and everything is dying, slowly and without hope of salvation. In a world where almost nothing is truth and isolation is the purest form of self-deception, the possibility of hope exists only in the heart and mind of a young woman who chooses to follow an unknown path in order to save everyone she knows and loves. Before long, she discovers that her most vital beliefs are based on a deception that will rock the foundation of her entire people. To save them, she must learn to open her heart and sacrifice…everything. You may think you have heard this story before, but be warned. You haven’t.

Targeted Age Group:: written for adults but appropriate for 12 and up

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I have always been interested in mythology of all types. Archetypes and their patterns are a fascinating subject for me, and I love to think about the story behind the story. Finding an interconnectedness among ideas is like finding the toy in the cereal box, only far more gratifying and useful. I wanted to create a story that was a complete enigma at first but slowly unravels to reveal the hidden meaning. The story itself morphed in the stages before I began to write it down. Then suddenly one day it hit me with a violent force, and I knew what I was going to write. I knew the ending. The climactic part of the ending was one of the first scenes I wrote. This was purposeful and intuitive. It practically wrote itself for a good portion of the time.

How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
The main character is very sweet but snarky… nothing like me. Not at all. Nope, not even close. The fact that people who know me can literally hear my voice when they read it is a complete coincidence.

The other characters aren’t really based on anything, but certain aspects come from many of my experiences and people I know. I knew from the beginning that there would be twins. That was important.

About the Author:
Lisa M. Green is a high school English and Special Education teacher with a degree in Secondary English Education from Kennesaw State University. She began writing at a very young age and even considered a career in screenwriting or journalism. Throughout her childhood, she drove everyone insane with her constant stories and plays. Friends and family were forced to watch— and often take part in— a plethora of theatrical performances. This passion for writing won her the very notable and prestigious Fourth Grade Writing Award in elementary school; she was very proud. As a teacher, she enjoys educating high school students about writing. Currently, Ms. Green lives in the metro Atlanta area with her husband and daughter. Her favorite place to be (other than asleep in bed) is the beach. She also enjoys reading, cooking, traveling, hiking, and playing video games that girls aren’t supposed to like.
