Book number one in the Terra Necro series.
Ian Ward was at a low point in his life. Recently discharged from the Navy as the Shakes Virus went global, he narrowly missed the military’s general order that all military personnel were required to take the controversial vaccine. With little cash and no prospects, he ended up as a dishwasher in a greasy spoon diner, smack in the middle of nowhere.
The only bright spot in his life is a beautiful, kind waitress named Roxanne. She is everything he ever wanted in a woman, but seems determined to keep him at arm’s length.
Then, those who were administered the vaccine suddenly began to get sick and die. Riots swiftly broke out around the globe, many of which turned violent. As aggression rose, so did brutality levels.
Then, the dead began to rise and attack the living. Something is terribly wrong with the vaccine originally meant to save humanity, and all those who took it are dying and becoming zombies.
Now, the world is a nightmarish tragedy of the walking dead, hungering for flesh, and all-too-human monsters, who have realized the only law is survival of the fittest.
And caught in the middle are Ian and Roxanne.
Targeted Age Group:
I think writing in the zombie genre is easier than other genres in some aspects, but a bit more difficult in others. It’s easy to imagine a world overrun by zombies, but the author must ensure to write enough detail to keep the reader interested, but not write too much detail so that the story bogs down.
What Advice Would You Give Aspiring Writers?
Make sure you have someone proof read your work, a writers’ group is great for this as family and friends will more than likely not tell you what’s wrong with your book for fear of hurting your feelings. another very important point, make sure you have your book edited by someone who knows how to edit. Don’t get in a hurry and post a poorly edited book, the readers will not hesitate to give you bad reviews, and your reputation will suffer. Finally, don’t be thin skinned, not everyone will like your book regardless of how good it is, so don’t get upset about a few critics who don’t like your work.
Michael Crockett was born in California, USA, but left home at the tender age of 17 to travel the world. After many years and many adventures he stopped for a rest in Japan, and hasn’t left since. He currently lives with his wife and children, works a day job, and writes as a hobby.
I’ve always like to tell stories, so I decided to write one down. It started as a short story and just took off from there
