Armchair BEA genre discussion is about non-fiction, which is what most of my books are 🙂
Non-fiction books are a very broad category, ranging from autobiographies and biographies to historical figures or events to even travel books.
I actually create books that take non-fiction another step, photography books. While some can be categorized as “travel”, many of my books are about nature, flowers, and butterflies, to name a few. Some have very little text, like my new series of “Take a Walk With Me” books. I want people to enjoy and explore nature without my interpretations getting in the way of their imaginations.
I have another series of non-fiction books that are related to internet marketing. They are a whole other ball game. I love reading memoirs and books about other people’s experiences and have plans to write my own. However, bloggers don’t seem to care much about non-fiction. Is it too “real”? Is it perceived as being easier? Or not of value to blog about because it’s real life and not an imaginary world or story? I’d love to hear your comments as bloggers on this!
Well as a matter of fact, I ONLY review nonfiction. I also pretty much ONLY read nonfiction. Nice to meet you!
Nice to meet you too! What do you think about photography books? 😉
I love reading non-fiction. It’s the way I learn these days!
Awesome 🙂
Actually, in my old blog, I would review non-fiction one a month (at least). Recently, I haven’t been so good about reading non-fiction, but I do see the value. I prefer compelling stories rather than “how-to’s.” I also like writing books or books that talk about being creative.
Thanks for your thoughts.
I am very choosy about my non-fiction, but I do share my thoughts about the book.
Thanks for sharing 🙂
While I am picky about which non-fiction books I do read, I do love non-fiction. I haven’t had a bad experience yet! I think non-fiction books should be approached the same way a fiction book is: does the title grab your attention, does the story sound intriguing, and can you learn something? I keep finding myself moving towards crime non-fiction books, but I’ve had my equal share of memoirs, historical events, and fascinating people I would have loved to have met!
Great points, thank you for commenting!
I read and review plenty of non-fiction! I’d say about 1/3 of the titles that I have written up fall into that category. Don’t give up! There are bloggers who like non-fiction too.

Yay! 🙂
I don’t run into a lot of bloggers that read and love nonfiction. When I do I stick to them like glue 😉 I happen to be wild about nonfiction. There’s nothing better and truth is sometimes soooo much stranger than fiction!
Indeed, truth is stranger than fiction.
