Children are often afraid of the dark and parents try to ease their fears, but what if the man of darkness really did exist? And what if his leaving created more chaos than fear? When one brave child demands the man of darkness to leave, odd things start to happen and begin affecting not only the little child’s sleep, but the sleep and routines of others.
The Man of Darkness is an imaginative, delightful and beautifully illustrated book that is a perfect bedtime reading for your “afraid of the dark” child. In addition to learning to be brave, your child will learn how actions breed consequences. Set in a lilting poetic rhyme will be a story you read again and again to your little ones.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
My son refused to go to sleep without me beside him because he was afraid of the dark. I wanted to show him that darkness is not so bad as he thinks and made up the story of “Man of Darkness”. Since then, My son asks me to read it again and again and again…Today he is no longer afraid to go to sleep alone in his bed.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
The man of darkness represents the scary creature that the boy is afraid of. The man of darkness has the power to bring the night or expel darkness. In the beginning he is frightful but during the story the boy learns that he is not so bad as expected. Later the boy realizes that the man of darkness has an important role in the world. The boy learns to appreciate him.

One late night I suddenly awoke to find,
Darkness coming at me before and behind.
I pulled up my covers, shaking with fear,
And yelled for my parents to quickly come near.
But no one was there to come and save me.
I was left alone with nowhere to flee.
My parents, no doubt, were still fast asleep.
Their promise to rescue they did not keep.
I jumped up like a brave and strong hero.
My fears seemed to have gone down to zero,
I imagined holding a sword of light,
Ready to give darkness a serious fight.
I shouted in a voice so loud and bold.
I felt like a knight with armor of gold.
“Hey, Darkness, I banish you forever!
Do not return again, no, not ever!”
