About Carmela Ben Nun Moshe:
Carmela Ben-Nun Moshe is the author of the recent internationally bestselling teen’s novel “The Wonderful Journey of Tara In an Unknown Land”. Originally published in Hebrew by Korim Publishing House, the novel was later translated and distributed internationally by Contento De Semrik. Her poetry book,”Peak of the Canyon”, published by Beit Hayetzira in 1991, contains a poem written by Carmela, which has won first prize in a national teen poetry writing competition. The author has also written and self-published a book of poetry, simply titled “Poetry of Life” in 1997.
Holding pen to paper since her childhood, Carmela has loved the art of rhyme and songwriting, often practicing the craft with her children’s stories, transforming them into rhyming verse. Carmela has had songs that she has written as a child published in children’s newspapers.
Carmela currently lives in Israel with her husband and three children. She has a Fantasy series for teens and some children’s books coming in the near future.
What inspires you to write?
Everything inspires me to write: The laughter of my children, beautiful sceneries, bad news on TV, struggles, rainy weather, sorrow, tears, quiet moments, happiness, life.
Tell us about your writing process.
I write and then rewrite many times. I usually don’t have an outline, because during the writing process I find that the whole outline changes. I let my imagination fly and feel free like a bird in the sky.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I become each one of my characters. When they talk its like I am talking but in extreme way.
What advice would you give other writers?
Don’t give up your dreams. Keep writing , keep doing what you love most.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I published couple of books with a publisher and then descidede to self-publish my next books. It is such an exciting experience to self-publish a book. It brings freedom and control. Its not always easy, especially the marketing part but its a learning process and I feel its the right thing to do.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I think that the market of self-publishing authors will continue to grow in the next years. There will be more digital books but readers will not give up the print books.
