About Walter James Lovett II:
What inspires you to write?
I love inspiring people with my words and bringing little known stories to light. I have always loved reading and have always had the dream of seeing my stories in print. My career in Journalism also has helped me to continue my love for writing.
Tell us about your writing process.
The writing process was not easy for me. I was going through some financial issues that prevented me from obtaining a computer of my own. Most of the book was written in libraries across the city in which I reside, which included many long hours even into the late night. Although I had a tough time publishing and writing my first book, the experience has been quite rewarding and has actually propelled me to publish more books on a regular basis.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I try to envision myself in the protagonist situation and from there I am able to build the antagonist and supporting characters to accentuate the lead character.
What advice would you give other writers?
I would just say that new writers should take their time and write the best story that they canto the best of their ability. Also do not write with the expectation of becoming rich and famous right off the bat. It is an arduous task writing and also promoting a new book.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I did extensive research on companies that offer great packages at reasonable prices and heard nothing but good things about CreateSpace. After speaking with a representative I finally made my decision in the fall of 2014.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
It is changing very rapidly. I know that in the past 5 years e-Books have really shot up. I doubt that print and paperback books will go away, however they will most likely become scarce as digital books continue to climb.
