About Victor G Konopka:
I am a retired Chicago Public School teacher and a retired member of the Illinois Army National Guard. In the Chicago Public schools I worked as a special education teacher at Clemente High School for 12 years. In the Army National Guard I participated in medical missions providing medical care to private citizens and helped build schools in Belize.
I have spent my entire adult life living in Chicago but was born in Litchfield, Illinois and grew up in Gillespie, Illinois. A small town in south central Illinois located fifty miles from St. Louis, MO.
What inspires you to write?
I enjoy writing but have never had the time. With retirement and the pandemic I find myself having more free time of late.
What authors do you read when you aren’t writing?
Anyone and everyone. I will read anything. I like a writer who shares a lot of thoughts
Tell us about your writing process.
I usually struggle with writing I will write for numerous weeks straight then go for months without writing. I try hard to reread and proof but once finished have to force myself to do so.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I talk to my characters and myself. I pace go for walks and write in my head then put it to paper. I never outline I just write. I seldom rewrite just provide straight tought.
What advice would you give other writers?
I don't have any words of wisdom to share. I wrote a book and besides myself, my daughter and my ex wife no one has read it. I thought if it was good or someone would let me know. So far it has gone unnoticed, unread and unloved.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I went online At Amazon and fought with the software until it accepted my book.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I know little about promoting or selling a book. I am almost finished a second book but am stalling. Afraid to finish since I struggle with the idea will it be read or not.
What genres do you write?: Young adult, historical fiction
What formats are your books in?: eBook, Print
