What inspires you to write?
I long to inspire others towards an integrated, chirst-centered, joy-filled life by offering a new reality of what it looks like to live out of a relational mindset that can sense the Divine’s leading. I want others to know they are not alone, and that there is hope.
Tell us about your writing process.
My books are compilations of my journal entries from over my entire life! So, I journal almost daily about my emotions, relational conflicts, and difficult circumstances I face. I focus on my feelings as well as my body sensations. Then, when I feel urged to write a book, I spend 45 minutes in focused thinking time. I ask God to guide me and I try to sense His thoughts about the topic at hand. I do a “mind map” and brainstorm everything out on a big piece of paper using different colors for different themes. Then, I go to my journals and search for all of the entries that have to do with that topic. I usually use a voice recognition app to speak the stories into the computer! After all of the stories are written out, I sit again for a 45-minute session and pray through the order until I sense a direction of how to present these stories best.
What advice would you give other writers?
I LOVE working in intense 45-minute sessions. I LOVE mind mapping! I highly recommend retreats as well. I use three-day retreats to write four hours a day and then play and rest. Also, Chandler Bolt’s Self Publishing School was a GREAT assest to me when I was getting started. Click here for more info: https://xe172.isrefer.com/go/curcust/Tonimdaniels
How did you decide how to publish your books?
Honestly, I was praying about whether I should pursue more studies or publish a book. I had a publisher interested in the book I had almost finished writing. Then, I got an email about Chandler Bolt’s SPS and after watching the intro videos I was convinced that I needed to go for it. The Self-publishing school gave me everything I needed from structuring my time to coaching me through difficult moments. I could not have done it without them. Now I have all the tools and skills I need for many books to come! Check them out here: https://xe172.isrefer.com/go/curcust/Tonimdaniels
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
The internet has exploded the old paradigm of book publishing. It is amazing to me what i am seeing out there and the possibilities through Kindle and other websites. My 15 yr old daughter is “publishing” her book one chapter at a time on a website for teens. It is truly amazing and there is no pressure to perform or get it perfect. I see a future where publishing companies are going to have to be very proactive to get business. Self publishing is the way to go!
