About T.A. Marks:
T.A. Marks is the adopted pen name of a couple in their mid thirties (Theo P. and Abs W.), with a love for traveling, science fiction and the literal arts.
The E.M.F. Chronicles consist of their latest attempt to build an epic fictional world, filled with adventure, drama, and extraordinary events.
They hope you enjoy reading their stories, as much as they do writing them.
What inspires you to write?
The major source of inspiration, for the both of us, have been the great masterpieces we have had the opportunity to read over the years, and the dream to be able to put our own little contribution into that ever-expanding library of science-fiction literature.
Writing also serves as a cathartic process, helping us deal with the drudgery of everyday problems and providing us with a window of escapism and self-realization.
Tell us about your writing process.
The writing process is evenly split between us. We are both responsible for the plot line and the realization of the characters and their sub-storylines.
Theo writes most of the dialogue and action sequences whereas Abs is more responsible for the ‘direction’ the text takes.
We are both equally burdened with the final editing of the work.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
This is a funny question, because it was about the time “Stormcall” was launched, when we were obsessing about the main characters so much, that we ended up developing a crazy notion that they were actually real, half-expecting them to pop up, at any given time, and say hi!
What advice would you give other writers?
If you don’t have a professional editor doing all the hard work for you, the only thing we can say is don’t stop editing your work!
Even after long periods of time have passed, you can never imagine the amount of typos and spelling errors you can find creeping through!
How did you decide how to publish your books?
We have always been fans of the genre of science-fiction in all its mediums (books, comics, movies/television, etc.) so it was only natural for us to try and give our own perspective and imaginations of what we consider to be a good fun story.
The internet and its various e-book publisher platforms were essentially what allowed us to be able to materialize this dream and we feel grateful and privileged to be able to do so.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
It is our opinion that the future of publishing is an electronic one. We think that it’s really hard to beat the customization, self-illumination, and connectivity options that most tablets, phones, or e-readers offer, not to mention the greatly reduced cost that is associated with the ebook format.
We love reading on our android tablets and we think that this applies to an increasingly larger number of people.
