Author Bio:
Sarah and Steven Mostyn are the authors of “The Blue Baboon in the Big Balloon”. The authors were born and raised in Canada. Their family of five recently relocated to Texas. They have developed their storytelling craft through the inspiration of their three young children: Jonah, Kayla and Daniel. They often sit together as a family brainstorming new, creative ideas for books, and enjoy retelling stories from their large collection of self-created family favorites.

What inspires you to write?
Our Children!

It is our weekly tradition to sit together as a family, retelling our self created family favorites, and brainstorming new ideas.

We came up with the ideas for The Blue Baboon in the Big Balloon one Saturday afternoon while snuggling together as a family. We loved the ideas we came up with and decided to write this book.

Tell us about your writing process.
Steven and I work as a team with lots of input from our kids.

We begin with a small thought and elaborate, until we come up with a great story!

We then get our kids involved as we will throw out an idea, and ask them to fill in a word. They sat with us while we were brainstorming ideas and threw out lots of really cute suggestions. As well, their feedback was very helpful, such as a giggle and a heartfelt laugh.

For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
For some characters Steven will make voices and create a personalty for the character and interact with our kids. If our kids like the character we know we have a hit.

What advice would you give other writers?
Do not have any regrets. Live your dream and give it 100%!

How did you decide how to publish your books?
We like to have more creative say in our end process, so we decided to self-publish.

What do you think about the future of book publishing?
The future of publishing will be more focused in eBooks and with such low entry points to publishing you will find more books being published.

What do you use?
Professional Editor, Professional Cover Designer, Beta Readers

What genres do you write?
Children’s Books

What formats are your books in?
Both eBook and Print
