What inspires you to write?
The stories that are knocking inside my brain, waiting to be let loose. I get inspiration from issues that I have dealt with in my life. I believe that it brings out more power to my writing when it is something I can personally relate to.
Tell us about your writing process.
I am a planner. I have a notebook where I write down ideas, character traits, and settings. From there I use a set of index cards to write down chapter ideas and from there, I arrange the cards in order in which I believe will give a good flow to the story.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
If I am alone, I have conversations with my characters. Sometimes they don’t always agree with what I have to say, and we get into arguments, but in the end, it comes out what is best for them, and for the story.
What advice would you give other writers?
Write. Write, and write some more. Never give up, always work on fine tuning your craft. Always find great proofreaders and beta readers. As I have found out, after reading my story so many times, it becomes a blur and doesn’t make sense. They catch obvious things that you may have missed. Try to write everyday if possible.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I went the self published mainly because I enjoy having control over my book, how I price it, how I market it. It’s the freedom of having it in my hands.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I believe that eBooks are the future. As much as I enjoy holding a physical copy of a book, being able to read a book at any time off your phone, or tablet, is easier than to carry a book around.
