Russ J. Taylor’s career in law enforcement spanned 35-years with the largest sheriff’s department in the USA. The contents of his book draw directly from his experiences and creativity. The addition of his recognized ability for superb writing serves to fill this novel with authenticity. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice Administration. A SEASON TO AVENGE is his debut novel.
What inspires you to write?
I draw inspiration from my investigative experience and my imagination. Scenes and stories pop into my mind constantly.
What authors do you read when you aren’t writing?
George Orwell, James Michener and Phillip Roth to name just a few.
Tell us about your writing process.
I find that an outline is to rigid for me when I'm in the flow of writing. I have an overall idea of where the story will go and how it will end. But, I let the book evolve in my mind before putting it on paper.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I picture a scene in my mind and play out an imaginary conversation or set of circumstances. Then, after it plays out mentally a few times, I start writing.
What advice would you give other writers?
"Write what you know." -Mark Twain
How did you decide how to publish your books?
Self publishing was the best way for me to go because I would not be inclined to make changes to my content.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I think at some point, Amazon will dominate the entire book publishing industry.
