About Richard Dietrich Maddox:
Richard Dietrich Maddox grew up in the Midwest and graduated with honors from Princeton University. After graduation, he spent five years in Europe studying literature and preparing to teach meditation. He taught meditation fulltime for two years before serving as the Vice President of Sales for seven successful high-tech startup companies. In 2005, he retired from the business world to concentrate on writing. He is the author of the number-one Amazon-bestselling Enlightenment novels, "Remembering Eternity," "The Whisper of a Saint," "Enlightened Relations: The Life in a Day," and "The Enlightenment of Joshua Inly," all of which have been highly acclaimed by readers.
My books are intended to inspire readers to search for Enlightenment, Permanent Bliss. The contain, as best I am able to present it, the wisdom of the Great Masters.
What inspires you to write?
I am inspired by the tradition of wisdom of the great Enlightened Masters. My goal is to inspire readers, through storytelling, to travel inward to find their true Self, Pure Consciousness.
Tell us about your writing process.
I write at the same hours every day, in the same place, with sound-deadening headphones, so that I can "hear" the words being written.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I settle down to a very quiet place within my soul and allow the work to proceed smoothly from there.
What advice would you give other writers?
Do your homework. Acquire the tools needed to write well before attempting to do so. Write a lot and keep writing until you master your craft.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
Someone whom I knew advised me. My first work was massive, and ended up being divided into nine separate books. Agents praised the quality of the writing but claimed that no one would read such a lengthy tome. So I decided to self-publish on Amazon.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
Amazon is the future. Traditional publishers will only release the works of famous authors.
