Paige-P.-Horne
About Paige P. Horne:
Hi Readers!
I’m just a girl who loves to read and write books! I am twenty six and live in Georgia. I am mostly into romance novels and I have just released my first romance novel! Yahhh go me lol. I have a passion for writing, it gets me up early before my day job(s) and keeps me up way past my bed time! I am a waitress and a customer service rep. I have been a waitress for eight years… wow has it been that long? Yikes lol. I really love it though! I enjoy helping people and I have met so many new people with both of my job(s). But I want more than anything to just be an author and maybe one day I will. But for now I will write when ever I can 🙂 I am married to my fun, loving husband who is in the film industry, yep I said film industry. He gets to work around all the awesome, famous people. He isn’t famous himself but it’s pretty cool hearing about his day. We have two dogs: A great Dane, his name is Dodge, he is six and still acts like a puppy but his running in circles gets you either whipped by his enormous tail or things get knocked over in our living room. Then there is Dottie; our Dalmatian. She is eight and seriously still has the energy of a puppy also. Her dream life would be living on a farm chasing sheep or horses. But she is stuck with me and I am no runner nor do I like to be chased. I really believe life is meant to be lived and by that I mean do what you love and enjoy every minute of it, even if it is hard at times, that is what makes it so worth it in the end. Until next time- Paige P. Horne

What inspires you to write?
Oh… let’s see. What inspires me to write? Lot’s of things really. Music inspires me. It puts me in the right mood sometimes to write, like say I need to write something sad. I will play a sad song and it will help the words flow. Readers: There is nothing greater than hearing, “I couldn’t go to bed last night because I couldn’t put your book down.” or “I can’t wait to read more from this author.” Those words right there, the way it makes me feel. I want more of it, so it inspires me to sit down and type away. Other Authors inspire me to write. When I read a great story and it’s so detailed and thought out; I want to sit down and make up my own great story. Writing makes me feel good mostly. I love the feeling I get when I’m engrossed in my own world of story telling, so I want to do it as much as possible.

Tell us about your writing process.
I am a seat of the pants writer! A thought will pop in my head of a story, but I know nothing else until I sit down and start writing. My characters develop as I go. I do not know the end of my story until about half way through and then I can say, “this is how I want this to end.” I write chapter after chapter and then I go back through every chapter, every paragraph, every sentence and add more detail or input small things that can relate with later chapters. I’ll go to a blank, new page when I have a new character and I will write what I want this person to look like, sound like, what kind of clothes they wear or hair they have, their eye color, skin color. Their past, what their job is. I write down all of this so I know who that character is when I write about them in the story. I wish I could say it’s more planned out. Maybe the more books I write, the more planning I’ll do. But sometimes I feel it’s good to just sit down and write. Let the words flow through my finger tips and onto the screen.

For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
Well I don’t think I listen or talk to them lol but I do read back over what I have wrote and I sometimes say, I get why my character is the way she or he is. I understand where they are coming from and sometimes I don’t so I rewrite it. lol

What advice would you give other writers?
Whew the things I have learned! I learned what I want in an editor. I think it is very important to have an editor who communicates with you throughout the time they are working on your story and often! I have learned that you are going to get bad reviews along with the great ones. Not everyone is going to like what you write and that’s okay. I learned that it’s not easy being a writer. It’s tough sometimes, the whole process can be hard and a headache. But you have to remember why you are doing it and my answer is because that’s who I am and what I love. I am a writer and I love it. I sure there are more things I have learned and more things I am going to learn. Le’ts hope so, after all learning new things can be fun and exciting right? 😉

How did you decide how to publish your books?
Well I went with self publishing because I wanted my book out there as soon as possible and I wanted the control in my own hands. Now I am not saying that if a publisher wanted me I wouldn’t go that route. I think it would be pretty cool! The bad thing about self publishing is the industry is very saturated and it’s hard to get word out on your own. But I contacted a author I love and admire and asked her about the whole self publishing process. She responded and I was so excited! My advice is to reach out to people you look up to or know they have dealt with all of this. You would be surprised at the people that will respond and be glad to help you!

What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I really have no Idea. But I think the whole process will probably get easier and easier like a lot of things with time and experience. But as for getting the word out, that is a different thing. I believe that will only get harder because there are just so many people doing the same thing.
