About Marios Savva:
Although I was born in England I am from Cyprus. Being a psychologist I began writing books on psychology and then felt the intense desire to venture into writing fiction. Being a good story teller, I want to write books that affect the heart as well as the mind. Unfortunately, my English humour follows me everywhere I go! and you will see a little of this in my books. When I tell a story, I like to blend tragedy with heart-warming elements.

What inspires you to write?
Sometimes I receive my inspiration from a true event that I have personally come across. Sometimes I create a story in my mind and feel that a lot of people would derive joy from it. I like my stories to be thought-provocative as well as tug at the reader’s heart; my desire being, to make a deep impression on the reader and keep him/her thinking about my book for a good while after they’ve read it.

Tell us about your writing process.
I would say I am a little bit of both. I outline the main parts of the story in mind, as well as the basis of the characters. I then write a few pages, go over what I’ve written, then take a break. During this break I’ll walk outside and conjure up the next parts of the story in mind, then, I will sit down to write it all down. Basically I don’t outline anything on paper except details such as names, places etc.

For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I try to live out the story in my mind; as if I was there in person. Upon creating the characters, I place myself in their stead- their personality, when writing about their feelings or reactions.

What advice would you give other writers?
Don’t sit down to write on days when you feel you don’t “feel it”. If you not in the “zone” better not to write, because if you push and pressure yourself to write when your like this, this will detract from the quality. Even if you’ve set a “finish by” date, don’t push it if you don’t feel at least a minimal flow.

How did you decide how to publish your books?
I am Happy with Kindle Direct Publishing. Amazon provides the platform for anyone to self-publish at zero to minimal cost. The self-publisher gets his/her book out in digital and paperback form and is available online to the whole world. You can order paperback copies as an author with a large discount so you can give copies to whomever you like, including for promotional purposes. And Amazon itself promotes you.

What do you think about the future of book publishing?
The more hectic and digitised the world becomes the more the tendency for digital books so people can read them on their devices. I think the traditional publishing houses will slowly lose their dominance in publishing and more online publishing avenues will gather momentum.
