What inspires you to write?
I’m inspired by knowing I can reach a wider audience than just my private clients. I know it will help build my business and give me credibility to speak.
Tell us about your writing process.
When I’m writing a book, I write every day using the Pomodoro Technique, even if it is only for 25 minutes. I also do a batch of writing 1-2 days a week, where I will spend 3-4 hours at once. I like to do this in a park near my house where I have no distractions or wi-fi. I also like to go to a campground or hotel and take advantage of no distractions.
I use coggle.it to mindmap what I am going to write.
What advice would you give other writers?
Hire a book marketing coach and an editor. You may think you can’t afford it, but you can’t afford NOT to hire an editor. A book marketing coach will also help you get your message out there and hold you accountable to do the things you need to do for your launch.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I wanted control over my books to be able to add to them and edit as needed. I have two books on Kindle and CreateSpace and find them very easy to purchase when I have speaking engagements as well as hold promotions and special event pricing.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I think self-publishing will become more and more popular as it becomes easier. I also feel because of this, reader reviews are going to become more important because there will be a lot more books in the market that aren’t good quality.
