Author Bio:
As a food- and history-obsessed Miami native, Mandy Baca found her true passion for food and writing while enrolled in the Hospitality School at Johnson & Wales University. She also holds a master’s degree in Italian gastronomy and tourism from the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Colorno, Italy. In the past, she has held various positions within the restaurant industry and has contributed to various publications both locally and nationally. She is a member of the Flagler Street Society, HistoryMiami’s young professionals program, and regularly attends historical tours, classes and seminars. Mandy Baca currently resides in Miami and continues her quest to inspire and advance the interest in local food culture. “Welcome to Miami, the land of dreamers, great people and amazing food!”

What inspires you to write?
The ability to both teach and reach people. it’s as simple as that.

Tell us about your writing process.
I’m more of a romantic. I write best at night and when i feel inspired.

For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
Not applicable

What advice would you give other writers?
– Don’t stop writing, even if it’s on your blog.
– Speaking of which- if you don’t already have a website, create one immediately. It’s easy and free.
– Be sure to have an active presence on social media, especially Twitter.
– Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there.

How did you decide how to publish your books?
I was very lucky. Because of a variety of circumstances (blogging, Twitter, industry experience), I was approached by a commissioning editor at The History Press and after submitting an outstanding proposal I was granted the opportunity to write the book of my dreams.

What do you think about the future of book publishing?
Many say that publishing is dead. I personally don’t believe that. i think it will continue to thrive and provide more opportunities for young and up and coming authors.

What genres do you write?
Food History

What formats are your books in?
Both eBook and Print
