Author Bio:
Just a small-town girl with many interests and some stories that want to be told. Never enough time to manage all my projects and interests. Stupid things like work and at least the essential housekeeping chores seem to interfere!
What inspires you to write?
Those darn voices in my head that keep wanting to get out.
Tell us about your writing process.
Lock the doors, turn off the phone, and let the fun begin. Very little structure, it’s always in my subconscious so it’s just a matter of finding the time to get it on the page. Sometimes just jot down notes as things come to me, mostly in the morning and at the most inopportune times like in the shower.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
Definitely just listen. They don’t even know I exist.
What advice would you give other writers?
Read. Read and continue to read. Develop your own style based on what you like or don’t like about others have written. Stay true to yourself. Although I am completely open to always learning and improving, I also know that it is my nature to second guess and doubt myself if I expose myself too much to the opinions and methods of others.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I’ve always been an outside-the-box independent so it is completely in keeping with my character that I would prefer to build up a readership through my own perserverance and a little luck.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
The self-publishing option has definitely shifted the control from the hands of traditional publishers. Everyone can have a voice now. The flip side of that is that there is a lot of really bad writing out there now. I get terribly offended when I download something just to find that I have been duped by some thrown-together, poorly-edited (or no-edited) waste of time. I have my preferences of some genres more than others but I will always appreciate that an author of any genre has taken the time to develop a good story line and edit their work for proper spelling and punctuation.
What genres do you write?
Womens fiction, literary fiction, historical fiction
What formats are your books in?
