About K. Rose:
K. Rose has been a part of the Indie Author Community for years. Getting her start as a reader, her keen eye led to a wonderful career in Alpha/Beta and ARC (Advance Reader Copy) reading. As a joke to her fellow advanced reader colleagues, she created a spoofed blurb and cover for a story and the feedback was so positive that it sparked her to run with it.
That stoked a fire that has her racing down a multi-genre freeway with no off-ramp in sight. K. doesn’t write to “market” and she is fairly certain that her humor and use of puns may cause an eye roll or two. This still wouldn’t stop her from making sure there is humor in every one of her stories. As a Multi Genre Author, there is sure to be something for everyone to love.
She has traveled the USA extensively, including Alaska, and lived in thirty-eight of the fifty states. Home is now the beautiful state of Wisconsin, where she dreams up her stories in the company of her menagerie of furbabies, including five puppies, three rescue kitties, a bunch of chickens, ducks and turkeys ruled by a Rooster named Chicken Parm, a ninety-gallon tropical fish tank and a chatty nineteen-year-old Cherry Headed Conure named Oscar!
Life will always be interesting for K. Rose, which will fuel her works, and keep her muses singing, come join the chorus.
What inspires you to write?
I am always inspired to write stories that I have in my head hat I feel need to be told. Stories that haven't been told before because maybe they have the rules of genre or trope bending to near the point of breaking.
What authors do you read when you aren’t writing?
My favorite authors are the ones that can make me feel everything, and see clearly in my mind the exact scene. I don't have any favorites more than that, and perhaps the author of the book I am reading right now (as in whichever one that is in that moment). I tend to read other Indie Romance authors' books when I am not writing. I do still read Alpha/beta and ARC for a number of authors as well.
Tell us about your writing process.
I have been mostly a Plotter/planster. Though I did just write a novella on the fly with just an idea in my mind of the story, I wanted to tell. So I guess now I could be a hybrid style!
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I am a director of sorts. I see the scenes play out in front of my mind's eye, and I direct the characters with a script. Sometimes they go ad lib and it works, and other times I have to "reshoot" a scene.
Sometimes I end up the one crying or laughing; but by the end of the scene, everyone has done their jobs perfectly.
What advice would you give other writers?
The best advice I was ever given was to just write. Write whatever you feel in that moment and follow your muse. Even if it isn't the project you are meant to be working on. Never ignore the muse. You can't edit a blank page.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I just went straight for Self publishing, and Indie Publishing houses. I never want to be stuck in the query lines at the big publishing houses. Plus the genre in which I write (mainly reverse harem romance) is a niche market that Kindle unlimited subscribers love.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I hope that Amazon, Kobo, apple books and all of the ebook distributors crack down more heavily on the book pirate sites themselves, since it is essentially stealing business from them as well. However, if they keep cracking down on us authors for the piracy when we have no control over it, soon enough the indie and self published authors wont be able to afford to publish. I also hope that in the future the distributors will be more fair to the authors in the royalties they offer.
What genres do you write?: I am a multi Genre Author, Fantasy Romance, Paranormal Romance, Sci Fi Romance, YA Fantasy, Children's Illustrated, Contemporary Romance, Paranormal Thriller, and more!
What formats are your books in?: eBook, Print, Both eBook and Print, Audiobook
