Author Bio:
Eva Gordon writes genre bending paranormal/fantasy/steampunk and historical novels with a strong romantic element. She loves to create stories that combine her passion for mythology, steamy romance, and action/suspense. Her imagination takes her from one universe to the next. Thus far, she has several series lined up as well as single titles waiting in line for production.
Eva has a BS in Zoology and graduate studies in Biology. When not in her den writing, she can be found teaching animal lore at writing conventions, at work at the raptor rehabilitation center, wolf sanctuaries, or to satisfy her inner Hemingway on some global eco adventure.
What inspires you to write?
Nature, my world travels, and my passion for lore and myths.
Tell us about your writing process.
I’m the seat of the pants writer, however, I prefer to call it channeling. Once I sit to write, my characters take over, worlds are created and plots unfold. I do keep a cheat-sheet outline and character sketches, but usually after I begin the story.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I allow my characters the freedom to take over and I often argue with them about their flaws.
What advice would you give other writers?
Write, write, write. Get the first draft out there. Then edit it like there is no tomorrow. Find a critique partner and beta readers to help find issues, both in development and grammar.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I’m a hybrid writer. I am published with two publishers and indie publish as well. I also have an agent and I still hope to be published with the big New York publisher.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I think there is still a place for publishers, big and small, but I think authors have more options. Indie publishing allows the author freedom and bigger royalties. This is a very exciting time to be an author.
