What inspires you to write?
The love I have for writing. It just comes very naturally to me. I also love seeing my thoughts on paper and enjoy seeing my work in books or turned into a book. I have such an imaginative thought process it's almost unreal. There's so much to be said for what a person thinks. I have read a lot of work from amazing authors and knew I fit into the great writer category.
What authors do you read when you aren’t writing?
Oh my , Stephen King, VC Andrews, R. L. Stine, Alvin Schwartz, Tom Schulman, Rhonda Bryne, Napoleon Hill, and Deepak Chopra. The list goes on.
Tell us about your writing process.
Writing the chapter about my belated husband was hard. I had to stop typing for a
day or two. But I wanted to make sure I finished the novel, so I picked up where I left off. I was
on a mission to spread examples of controlling narcissist behaviors and similar topics to the
world, and that’s exactly what I have done.
What advice would you give other writers?
I would say to keep going, even if life gives you a few hiccups, just remember to keep writing. take a journal with you if you travel and if you think of things to add to your book while you're traveling you can write it down in your journal and add it to your manuscript later. Writer block is such a thing, and that ok to have. For me when I have it and get over it my work is ten times better and my thoughts are 100 times greater. Don't take the word no or the comment this genre doesn't fit our agency personally. Check that agency off the list and go on to the next one. there will always be a crowd out there that will love your style of writing and what you have written.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I started by sending out query letters to book publishing companies, but the feedback wasn't to my liking. I also encountered a lot of agencies that wanted upfront fees, and to my knowledge, you don't ever pay for an agency to sign you on. So I went to self-publishing resources and am now published through Barnes and Noble, and on Amazon.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I have two manuscripts I'm writing now. One I'm 13 chapters in, the other is not a chapter book. This next time around I will submit my manuscripts to agencies online. I just have to find the right agency that fits the genre I'm writing, and I think I have a few in mind.
