What inspires you to write?
My interest in Orthodox Christian history in the Indian-Sub continent is one of the major inspiration for me to write. My specific interest research the Independent Catholic communities (Western Rite Orthodox) that originated in Goa and later flourished in Ceylon and elsewhere.
Tell us about your writing process.
I prepare independent articles with the findings from my filed and document research. Later, I compile and publish them. Hence, it is easy for me to handle the volume of research document. The area that I work requires a lot of keen attention. Mostly, I act as a researcher who connect many missing things (historical links) from the forgotten past. I do my level best to pay attention to details, which provides me with important leads in my research. Leads are very important in historical research. I try my best to remain ethical in my research as well. This is very important as a researcher.
Networking with the right people is the key for success. Patience is another aspect. You may face a lot of challenges. I faced a number of hurdles during the past 9 years. These challenges (financial, external threats) even threatened my research in several ways. However, I never gave up.
What advice would you give other writers?
Do not hesitate to write. Even if it takes a lot of time, keep moving ahead with your efforts and never give up your dreams. Be fair, honest and genuine in your area of writing.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
My association with Orthodoxy Cognate PAGE (Pan-Orthodox NGO. I serve as the delegate of the Indian Sub-Continent, as well as the head and chief research Officer of Metropolitan Alvares Julius Research Project-MARP) is the major reason for me to publish my work. My co-author, Mr. George Alexander motivated me to publish my research findings in the form of a book. It took me nine years to publish the first part of my research, which is titled 'Western Rites of Syriac-Malankara Orthodox Churches'.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I am very hopeful and positive about the future of publishing. Technological breakthrough has made everything easier for our world.
We have a lot to go and am sure that we have an exciting future.
