About Dorothy Bigguns:
I’m an avid shuffleboard player, YouTube junkie and a fan of all comedy. My favorite things to do are read, write and talk about myself behind my back. I studied at Ohio State University (Go Bucks!) for one semester and discovered that schooling cost too much, so I dropped out to become a full-time porter at a hospital while pursuing a career in writing. During my free time I volunteer at the local humane society caring for dogs, cats and rabbits.
What inspires you to write?
Anything funny or random humor usually gets me inspired to write. I love things that make me smile and self-deprecating humor.
Tell us about your writing process.
Typically I come up with a concept, develop a title, then jot out a table of contents. With each chapter having a subject I write out questions and fill out the answers. When I’m done writing, I just go through and remove the questions.
What advice would you give other writers?
Be true to yourself when you are writing.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
My friends were really instrumental in me writing my thoughts. They were very encouraging and always said I had a knack for storytelling.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I think that a great majority of books stores will get shut down if they do not evolve with the times and embrace ebooks. Some of the larger franchises will make it, but I’m not so sure about the mom and pop shops and used book stores. This may not happen for another couple of decades, but it is coming. Nobody ever thought video rental stores would close, now look where Blockbuster and Hollywood Video is.
