About D.U. Sivri:
I was born and grew up in Hackney, East London. Being a multi-cultural and diverse borough, it really helped me to gain a deeper insight and understanding of different cultures and different people.
My family originate from the beautiful mediterranean island of Cyprus where I still have many friends and family.
Having travelled extensively and having lived in many countries, I have adapted ideologies and principles from many different cultures and different backgrounds into my work, both as a qualified psychotherapist and as an author.
Being a renowned motivational expert and life coach, as well as a Psychotherapist has meant that all my books reflect both my educational background as well as my working background. This is important as all my books are about personal development, personal growth and self-help.
My mission over the years has been to help as many people as possible through my work and through my books, and I am also a great advocate for mental health and emotional well-being.
I have also appeared on many TV and radio shows in many countries over the years, as well as in many print publications.
My life experiences have played a great part in my work also, and having lived in many countries, this has helped me to gain even greater understanding of life and of spirituality.
My published books include:
The Secrets of Confidence and Success
The Secrets of Calmness and Inner Peace
The Secrets of Existence and Fulfilment
The Secrets of Life and Beyond
I have also finished book five in the series and I am currently working on book six!
Happy reading…
What inspires you to write?
Lots of things inspire me really.
My job as a psychotherapist involves me helping, motivating and inspiring others, and this in itself is a great inspiration for me.
As I write about self-help and personal development, my education and life experiences inspire me immensely…
Tell us about your writing process.
I find it easy to write. Of course you need to be in the mood, but sometimes you just have to sit down and get on with it… as you can’t always be in the mood… Once I start I can write for hours!
I have lots of notes that I have collated over the years and I spend time working that into a book format.
What advice would you give other writers?
Never give up and always believe in yourself…
Its an old cliche but true… Remember that nearly every successful author has been rejected many times!!
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I think you need a publisher to start with as it helps immensely. However self publishing is always good as you are then guaranteed to be published and you can always be discovered later on.
Better still, a mix of both traditional publisher and self publishing is always best I feel as you have the best of both worlds.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
It looked like print publishing would be struggling at one point with the advent of ebooks, etc…. But printed books will never really die out as everyone loves reading a book… Either as a present, or buying one for yourself… After the initial buzz of ebooks died down, many people returned to buying traditional books…
Having said that, on an electronic device you can have as many books as you like!!
