What inspires you to write?
My life experiences and my faith in God. I’ve had experiences such as being a learning support student throughout my education even up to college, struggled with depression, anxiety and low self – image, come from a low income family and was diagnosed with a learning disability at 23 years old, while attending college. Also, I have never had a steady job.
Tell us about your writing process.
I spend time in prayer, devotion, research and reflection.
What advice would you give other writers?
Keep writing no matter the challenges and hurdles you face. Grow, learn and develop your gift as much you can.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
My first book titled ‘Poems From The Heart’ is self – published and my other two books ‘Inspiring Moments: Encouragement for the Soul’ and ‘RESILIENT: Rise Above the Ashes’ are published through Shamonj Gifts LLC.
Self publishing is good, but can be more expensive when it’s done top notch professionally. Publishing with a publisher helps with areas that you might not be the strongest in and gives you more time to work on other tasks.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I think that digital publishing is going to grow and grow more and more people will turn to it.

I absolutely love Crystal’s new book titled “Resilient: Rise Above the Ashes.” The book is very inspiring and encouraging to people who are going through challenges in their daily life. I can identify with some of Crystal’s struggles. The thing that stuck out to me is when she said in this interview that at the page of 23 they diagnosed her with a learning disorder. I am convinced that they were wrong. Crystal is a creative, brilliant, and phenomenal writer, and shouldn’t even try to put a label on her. In her book, my favorite poem is Statistics Don’t Determine Destiny. She is right, just because doctors and others try to diagnose you with something, doesn’t mean it’s the truth and it doesn’t mean that it will altar your destiny. Crystal have really inspired me! I am so happy to have had the chance to not only work with Crystal as a client, but to read her writings as a fan. Keep up the great work Crystal. I am very very proud of you. God has so many more great things in store for you. God bless you sis. 🙂
