About Christina Maharaj:
Christina Maharaj is a fantasy writer and artist from Mississauga, Ontario. She first had an interest in tarot cards when she was very young, but it wasn’t until she received a deck as a gift, in her early 20’s, that she really delved into it. When she isn’t writing or drawing, she is playing video games, going for walks and working out on the heavy bag. Christina is currently working on the next book in her series, ‘The Tarot Cards.’
What inspires you to write?
Anything and everything can be an inspiration, but most of all, I love stories. My mind tends to wander into the land of ‘what ifs,’ which can lead to some interesting scenarios.
Tell us about your writing process.
I am a seat of the pants writer, but I’ll do my research when needed. I like to pick an idea and see where it leads. I vary as to when I make character sketches, recently it’s after already introducing them in the story.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I have a tendency to feel like I am in the main characters shoes. I can see scenes play out in my head in various ways.
What advice would you give other writers?
Just keep writing, it’s the only way to improve. Also, don’t forget to proofread/edit multiple times. Don’t rush the process.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I don’t like the idea of repeatedly sending out my novel in hopes to be picked up. I started the process wanting to self-publish the book, so it would be what I wanted it to be.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
It will always be split between self-publish and publishers. There’s room for everyone.
What genres do you write?: Fantasy, Adventure, Young Adult
What formats are your books in?: Both eBook and Print
