What inspires you to write?
I love telling a great story, especially one with humor, snappy dialogue and happy endings.
Tell us about your writing process.
Usually a scene pops into my head and then I write around that scene. I have a spiral notebook filled with random scenes, kind of like a snippet of a movie. Creating a full-length novel from this snippet is part of the fun.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
My characters definitely talk to me. I can’t tell you how many times they jump off the page demanding to have their story told. Whenever I have writer’s block, it’s because I’m trying to force my characters to do something they don’t want to do.
What advice would you give other writers?
Never give up. Never take no for an answer. Always write what you want.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
Ugh. Unfortunately, I had a bad experience with a publisher many years ago. Not getting paid the royalties I’d earned forced me to look in a different direction. I made the decision to self-publish, and it was the best thing that ever happened to me.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
With so many options and so much technology, the sky’s the limit for authors and readers. I see wonderful things on the horizon.
