I grew up in the small village of Lancaster, NY, where I married my sweetheart. I'm devoted to raising 5 cherished children, and now my grandchildren.
I love to immerse myself in great books of every kind of genre, which helps me to write purely for entertainment, and hopefully to inspire readers. When not stationed at my computer you can find me in the woods taking long walks with my dog.
What inspires you to write?
A good book or a great movie will inspire me to write.
Tell us about your writing process.
I'm a true pantser. I normally sit at the computer and hope a story pops into my head. Once I find my characters and they take me for a ride, I write down their outer features because in the past, I'd forgotten what color eyes my main character had.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
I need complete quiet when I write. I usually sit by a large picture window with a cup of tea or coffee.
What advice would you give other writers?
My best advice is to read, read, and read. Not necessarily the genre in that you'd like to write. I feel every genre helps a writer to hone their craft. Next, is perseverance.
How did you decide how to publish your books?
At first I wanted to go the traditional route with an agent. After an avalanche of rejections, I went to small publishers and had 3 offers in a week. I did acquire an agent for my 3rd book, but after a year we amicably parted ways.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
It's hard to see the future in publishing. I do know many writer's that are self-publishing and submitting to small indie publishers.
