About Brian Lakins:
About the Author
BRIAN LAKINS was ingrained into the Christian faith as a young child…then seeking his own ways for a season, the prodigal returned to Jesus with a God-given passion to write and speak to Christians and seekers to inspire them to live holy in an unholy world. He earned his degree in Biblical studies from Liberty University.
Wisdom was gained in the trenches of life, and the passion for Brian to address deep questions of faith beyond surface teachings was produced. Through years of personal study, the original Millions Vanished vision was birthed in 2005.

What inspires you to write?
Everyone I have ever met or ever will meet is/has going to end up in one of two places. I have had my best childhood friend die in 2001 at the age of 22. He was not living for God and I believe he is in hell. I never told him the salvation message.
I promised that would never be something I will live with again.
Fast-forward to May 16, 2016, a dear friend of mine killed himself. I hadn’t seen him in years, but the last thing I spoke to him about was Jesus. I mourn for him, but I have no blood on my hands.
I write for all of us who are alive and still have time to understand the plan of God for man-kind. We all have the ability to live holy lives while it is still day. My motivation is for obedience unto God and His Great Commission first, and then for my fellow man to repent and live soberly and holy, watching for the blessed hope and the return of God and His Son to come to earth.
Tell us about your writing process.
I outline on paper (old school). I then just start writing, knowing very well that the entire outline will change by the time the book is finished. This has to happen though. This is my process! I thank God for computers. They allow me to copy, paste, delete, everything. I’m not sure how anyone ever wrote with a type-writer?!
What advice would you give other writers?
The best advice I would give a new author is to just begin! Write for 20 minutes a day at minimum. I started writing with no idea how to do so. All I knew was I was supposed to write. If you have this passion, then start doing it and you will be qualified sometime during your journey. Never wait until you are qualified my anyone’s standards, even your own. Just start doing it and you will grow in ways you never thought could be possible!
How did you decide how to publish your books?
I always planned to publish when I was writing my first book in 2007. I have finally published a book May 22, 2016. So what happened you may be asking? Well, my book categories are RELIGION > Biblical Studies > Prophecy; RELIGION > Christian Theology > Eschatology; RELIGION > Biblical Studies > Soteriology; RELIGION > Christian Theology > Soteriology; etc. Unless you already have a following, traditional publishers won’t take you serious and I didn’t have thousands of dollars to self-publish. Fast-forwarding to 2016 and I started to revisit self-publishing, which would have been a black hole for me in 2008, when I finished my first book. With today’s technology and acceptance of indie authors, Self-publishing is something anyone is able to do if they have passion and are self-motivated.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I believe the future of book publishing is geared for online self-publishers. This is where the trend has been directed. Many still would rather have a hard copy than read online, I get that a lot, but they are usually older in years. The generation coming up now has been exposed to reading online for so long that it doesn’t bother them at all. Portable devices are every where and come in all kinds of sizes. EBooks are the wave of the future, but I will still strive to get my books out in hard copies in case of an EMP attack, which is supposed to inevitably happen according to ex-CIA directors and other experts.
