About Annette Czech Kopp:
Professionally Annette is a graduate of Northwestern University and a Principal Consultant for Kopp Company. She is the editor of the Kopp Chronicles series of Amazon & Goodreads 5-Star novels which have been nominated for Reader's Choice Awards, Goodreads Choice Awards and numerous "Cover of the Month" & "Book of the Day" Honors. The novels also have received a glowing review and featured “First Lines” in "Publishers Weekly". Additionally, she is the author of Modernizing Your Personnel Management System (copyright 1985 by Alexander Hamilton Institute; Ramsey, NJ 07446).
Personally, Annette, dreamer, avid sea shell seeker and beach explorer is honored and humbled to be chosen by the Miso Mice for this once in a Universe opportunity. Born and raised in Parma Hts., OH she wrote and produced plays with her neighborhood elementary school friends using garages as stages and charging only $.05 for attendance (popcorn was free). Although the play and story writing continued, productions were halted as the actors were lax in putting away everything they had lugged out of houses. Her love of making up stories continued in life, ultimately shared with her 2 sons as they created the Miso Mice in the 1990’s and imbued them with superpowers, and as Pokémon was very popular at that time, individual trading cards. One of 5 sisters, in March 2020 (think pandemic), they began zooming together every week, ended up calling the sessions IdleChatter5 (cheaper than therapy!), and even creating a website summarizing all of their chatter! Many of the topics discussed were about what they termed "The Self Project" – creating their own future selves. They literally spend (as they continue to zoom even now) up to 3 hours almost every week chattering. Conversations range from the exchange of what each sister is doing this week, health information and recipes, to discussing time travel, the multiverse, and questions such as “why are we here” and “what are we doing here” (here meaning Earth)? These sessions changed Annette’s way of thinking about everything – realizing that she can (as the Miso Mice say) "choose'ndo" (associated with Universe rule #1: everything gets to choose). This attitude and awareness, that everything is Annette’s choice, totally transformed her life both physically and mentally. She lost 40 lbs; lowered her blood pressure; is now consciously aware of what she eats; and swims and walks daily. Annette wanted to share this information with others – that you can create your own future self (if you want) – as it has brought her great joy – but many of the concepts discussed were very academic (and to Annette’s mind boring) in nature. Voila – enter the fantasy world in the “Adventures of the Miso Mice” where these (what some may call adult level) concepts are presented in a fun, fantastical manner with language and pictures that can be understood at many levels by all ages through the shenanigans of these 5 whimsical fantastical mice (and yes their characters are indeed based on Annette and her 4 sisters). Annette can’t chronicle quickly enough the adventures of these fantastical Miso Mice and the next book is almost completed!!
What inspires you to write?
I have realized that I can (as the Miso Mice say) "choose'ndo" (associated with Universe rule #1: everything gets to choose). This attitude and awareness, that everything is my choice, totally transformed my life both physically and mentally. I lost 40 lbs; lowered my blood pressure; and am now consciously aware of what I eat; and swim and walk daily. I am happy! I wanted to share this information with others – that you can create your own future self (if you want) – as it has brought me great joy – but these concepts of self discovery and reinvention may become very academic (and boring) in nature. Voila – enter the fantasy world in the “Adventures of the Miso Mice” where these (what some may call adult level) concepts are presented in a fun, fantastical manner with language and pictures that can be understood at many levels by all ages through the shenanigans of these 5 whimsical fantastical mice. I can’t chronicle quickly enough the adventures of these fantastical Miso Mice and the next book is almost completed!!
What authors do you read when you aren’t writing?
Gregory Kopp; Mary Michael; Louisa May Alcott; Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
Tell us about your writing process.
My writing is totally driven by the Miso Mice as I am only the chronicler of their adventures. These mice very much like a magical button they found when they created themselves called "PressThisButton" and ask it all kinds of questions including "what adventure should we go on?" Once they receive their answer – we are off – with me trying to keep up as much as possible in regard to the chronicling. I am transported into their world and the writing flows onto the page. Many times these mice jump from one adventure to the next and then go back to an adventure and as they do so, I try my best to create chapters based on each adventure. Once they have decided that they have received an answer from PressThisButton to their original request, that series of adventures is completed and I consider it a "book". (I am on book 6 at this time.) Then this is where my "editing" work begins as I read through what I have written, add explanations, and change sections around to make better sense. When I chronicled the Miso Mice's first set of adventures I knew at once that I would have to act as "narrator" and explain things, as truly these mice are very curious. I also realized that pictures would help explain the adventures so I have added those to the story telling.
For Fiction Writers: Do you listen (or talk to) to your characters?
Absolutely, the Miso Mice would have me chronicling their adventures continuously, and I have learned to "quiet" them so that I can get other things done, although they do "peek out", particularly when something I am doing, seeing, or hearing amuses them. I think they are also speaking to my husband and sisters as they send ideas and suggestions to them for me!
What advice would you give other writers?
Follow your passion and your dreams! …..Rumor has it that it all started up in the Universe, but that’s not a rumor at all – it’s actually true! Thinking about it, anyone can see how it became a rumor as lots is going on up there and it’s very possible that no one actually noticed the beginning, much less documented it. Choices are constantly being made by every THING. That’s Universe Rule #1: every THING always gets to choose! The choices being made are creating all kinds of wonderful and amazing things. Some of those things that are being created are sparks of light energy that the Universe has nicknamed “sprites” and they are moving around the Universe all the time, as one of of the Universe’s favorite pastimes is creating sprites, and experiencing the sprites’ creations. You are one of those sprites! Fill yourself with bright light. Become consciously aware of the timeless energy that is you – choose and create! But how? Via whimsical stories of curious fantastical Miso Mice embarking on their exciting quests experiencing how to create their own future selves in the series: 🐭 “Adventures of the Miso Mice”. To write all you have to do is 1) choose and 2) do (abbreviated "choose'ndo").
How did you decide how to publish your books?
My main goal in regard to the series "Adventures of the Miso Mice" is to provide this information – you can choose to create your own future self – in as many mediums as possible to those who are interested. Self-publishing opened the opportunity for me to do so immediately.
What do you think about the future of book publishing?
I think that book publishing is exploding! And it's not only "book" but all kinds of information and idea sharing in so many ways! With the tools and media available almost everywhere at many levels, truly anyone can share their stories and ideas with the world. Instructions are easily and readily available on the Internet and in many more areas on how and where to share.
What genres do you write?: Fiction
