What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I grew up among heroes, and now love to write passionate romantic suspense. Besides, who doesn't need some reprieve from the everyday, with heroes we want to believe in. Spicy alpha males, strong heroines, off the chart chemistry, angst, and love!
My action romances celebrate the wounded hero, the broken and heartbroken – all who fall, and fight to get back up, and dare to love again.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
I just love the ancient theme of the wounded hero who redeems him or herself. Often times people who dares to love again, help to redeem each other. I also adore Irish and Gaelic ancestry in a character, even though I write only contemporary romantic suspense. The alpha male must be the ultimate wounded hero, and so, Gage O’Rourke, the mercenary for hire with the secretly decent heart, came into being. His opposite to attract, in this enemies to lovers romance, had to be a really good person, with a lot of courage to end up loving Gage, and so she needed a name as classical and lovely as her character. What is more classical than Sophie? When I feel at my best, it is to give my heart freely to those who need it most, like injured animals or babies who do not thrive. I’ve always felt that sitting with abandoned babies in special NICU wards, who have this kind of program, is the most beautiful act a women can do. To give freely of her mothering capacity, even when it secretly breaks your heart. So, this is what I had Sophie do between her studies and going to work at Bob’s diner in the fictional town of Rockmount, Eagle Crest County, every evening. I wanted her shining with love and a beacon of hope of redemption for Gage.
