Chance McNally is a former Navy Seal and a hot-headed Irishman who’s at the end of his rope trying to balance a new job while raising a difficult teenage daughter alone.
Along comes Riley Cole, a feisty event planner running a successful business, whose carefully curated life is changed by the constant threat of a dangerous stalker. Afraid for her life, she hires the best bodyguard in Bliss Cay…who happens to be Chance.
With Chance assigned to protect Riley, he must assume the role of her boyfriend in order to keep her safe from danger at all times—a feat easier said than done. When the two are together they’re oil and water, leading to explosive situations as they are forced to tolerate each other’s presence.
With Riley’s world turned upside down over the ever-constant threat of danger, the safety this fake relationship offers is something she realizes she’s been missing in her life. For Chance, Riley may be the spark of fire he needs to finally heal from past traumas.
Will the one person Chance never wanted in his life be the one to persuade him to face a tortured past, and will this relationship stay fiction—or can their growing feelings turn it into fact?
(This is book 5 of a standalone sweet/clean romance series and can be read in any order.)

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
Some of my favorite tropes involve military personnel, enemies to lovers, tortured soul, first love, fake boyfriend, and second chance romance.
While brainstorming ideas, I decided on a troubled former Navy Seal turned bodyguard, who's a single dad to a teenage daughter, and a sassy event planner with a stalker out to get her. Adding in a big sister as Chance's boss and confidant, and Riley's funny, very likable, gay best friend/personal assistant really brought depth and humor to this heartfelt story.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
Coming from a military family, and married to a retired Air Force Sergeant myself, I love using strong, hunky leading men when possible, so I dreamed up Chance McNally.
Trying to fit in a female, co-main character, with a career that I could work into the story and setting (a small island town with a Convention Center), Riley appeared and was quite opinionated throughout the planning of her scenes.
Then came along Milo, Riley's BFF turned assistant, who she met and roomed with in college. Originally he was supposed to be straight so I could use him to make Chance jealous once he started to like her. However, his very fitting personality came out along the way and I must say he is one of the most fun, likable characters I've written! I even thought about giving him his own story some day, but for now he's a big part of this one.
Chance needed someone to talk to, and rather than adding yet another character, with a small part, I decided on using his big sis/boss, Sloane. I love a close family unit, and it helped the storyline with both of them being retired from the military, along with their father.
