Exclusive Pedigree by John L Fear, Robert Fear, and Alastair Fear
John Fear was born into a religious sect known as the Exclusive Brethren. This sheltered him from the outside world as he grew up, but could not hide him from its influences. A struggle began in his mind that led him to leave the Brethren, along with his young family.
This is a story that was always meant to be told. During his later life John Fear had prepared a lot of the book, along with notes for chapters that he knew would not be completed. It is only now, over twenty years later, that the book is finally being published. It contains original content written by John, along with diary notes, letters and magazine articles. The final chapters are written by his second eldest son, Alastair. The memoir is introduced and edited by his eldest son, Robert, as a tribute to his father’s amazing life.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
It was only while visiting my mother a few months ago that a chance remark spurred me into action. She mentioned that it had always been John’s ambition to have his memoirs published properly.
My intention, by publishing this book, is to belatedly make my father’s dream come true.

Our disenchantment with the Exclusive Brethren was gradual as we detected extreme legal teaching creeping in with a loss of missionary and gospel outreach. The Lord had been convicting me over a period of three or four years, but it was a big step to leave relatives, friends and fellowship, especially as we were told that there was no spiritual life outside the Brethren. We were about to leave those whose insight and concern I highly esteemed, but we were given strength as God chastened us through the deep sorrow of the near fatal car crash and the loss of our baby. God had spoken through these circumstances and I was too frightened not to listen and obey the awesome voice of God to my heart, mind and conscience.
