Tell Us About Your Blog
This is a wizardry and literary place for book worms, wizards, witches, vampire-lovers, spiritual beings and others to land when they are flying about, looking for a good blog read. It’s the official author website for D.M. Cherubim, author of the new YA fiction Mary Baker and The Eye of the Tiger. The blog posts reviews and thoughts on wizardry, magic, spells, ghosts, vampires, creatures, spiritual beings, children’s fiction, YA books, books in general, and just about anything book or spiritual literature related. Please groom the author’s horse, Pinky, while you are here. D.M. Cherubim is busy writing more books.
Why Did You Start a Book Blog?
I’m a former award-winning journalist, and before that was an English lit. major. I’m an avid book reader and feel like I need an outlet for news and thoughts about books. I also had a near-death experience that changed my life. For more on this, see my About Me page on my blog.
Once Mary Baker was published, I felt I better go ahead with the blog. It’s getting a great response, and I’m just getting started.
What Kinds of Books do You Review?
I’m pretty much all over the place, from wizardry to magic realism to dystopia to vampires to witches to creatures to spiritual beings to spirits to literary to tall tales, myths and legends. And even more than that. The blog is brand new, but I’ve been reading my whole life. I’ll be adding reviews as I’m able to get to them, around the book writing.
What advice would you give new book bloggers?
Remember what it’s like for you when you hunt for a book to read. What triggers you to get it? If you like the book, put those trigger thoughts into your review somehow.
Also, really hunt out those undiscovered gems. This is an exciting time for books, with big-time authors leaving publishing houses and mixing it up with first-time indie authors in the self-publishing universe. I suspect there are thousands of undiscovered books out there, and readers will appreciate you finding them.
What Formats of Manuscripts or Books Will You Accept for Reviews?
Print book only

Note: I do not do negative reviews; therefore, it is possible that even if I accept your book, I might not review it. So I make no guarantees. Also, I am extremely busy writing, so I may never get to it. If you still want to try, send me a copy of your book, and I may look at it. Or I might not. Depends on where I am in my next book. I would consider a guarantee of at least reading your book if you wish to send me on an all-expense paid trip to Paris. Or somewhere inspiring for my next book.
