As my day job is web developer and designer, I create my own book covers. In this case, I had a lot of help, though.
Once I had finished the book, it was time to come up with a cover. I drafted two proposals and posted them on my blog, asking my followers for feedback. I received plenty of feedback on everything, from the title (which changed to mirror a follower’s suggestion) to the actual cover. After I worked that feedback into the design, I went through a second, then a third round with my gracious followers.
Once we had the cover, I felt that something was still lacking. I contacted my good friend and excellent illustrator Dimitris Fousekis and asked him for an illustration. He came up with the silhouette that can be seen in the background. As soon as I incorporated that into the design, it just clicked, and I knew I had the perfect cover for my book!
