Cover Designer: Peter Jelen
Comments about cover design
Peter Jelen is an author and artist, very much involved in using color to express his worldview. His cover for this book represents the mental chaos that occurs between the “characters” in the book of poems.
Great title goes well with the cover. I don’t know what to make of it because I found myself just staring at it, studying it like an art piece and forgetting it’s a book cover. I think that’s a plus. Definitely the most unique cover in the group.
The mix of faces and oddities gives a sense of light frenzy, so seems appropriate. The colors are great.
The thing that I love most about this cover, is the different styles and character of the art. It speaks to me about the content and emotion of the book and the pieces in it. Having read the book, it is, simply put, perfect.
With the “busy-ness” of the book cover, it certainly seems to adequately coincide with the subtitle, “Chaos Poems From The Brink.” I like it. It’s unique and colorful and not mysterious-looking like some poetry books attempt. It appears to be aware of itself as a full package.
Cathi Stoler’s Nick of Time is one of those books that keeps you guessing to the end. The cover conveys the suspense and action in this world of money and deceit. High stakes are involved in a variety of ways. Nick is obviously gambling with his life.
