Of all of the covers for the five books of the Pipe Woman Chronicles, this one was the most challenging for me technically. I had to turn a stock photo of a regular buffalo into a fractalized white buffalo. Again, I used the G’MIC plug-in for GIMP to get the look I wanted. Once I did that, I realized the white title font I’d used on the earlier books wasn’t exactly going to work here. So I got to play around with some more of GIMP’s features to make the book title gold.
