I like to photograph items I make in a natural setting, if possible. For the front cover of my book I took photos of two felt baubles hanging on a tree in my back garden. I tried to make the baubles look as though they ‘belonged’ to the garden. Hopefully, readers will want to turn the page to see more photos similar to this one!
This cover shares one quality with many of the others that is one of my pet peeves when it comes to book covers, which is the use of a photograph with flat, featureless text slapped over it. The photo, in this case, is kind of interesting, but the font is dead boring. Please use something besides Arial/Helvetica.
I think the cover would stand out more if the font used in the title and author’s name had a bit more pizazz. 🙂
