What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
I've always been fascinated by time-travel, watching any TV, movie, or reading any book on the subject. I decided it was time to put my spin on the genre.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
I think all of my characters are extensions and sometimes caricature extensions of my own personality. For the first book in the series, I also leaned heavily on my son's experiences, since he was a high school student in the late nineties.
Sean leaned back and raised his eyebrows. “Really? Sounds serious. Something about how hard it is to come live in the middle of nowhere?”
“Not exactly,” Nicole answered as she reached into her backpack and pulled out a tiny electronic device. She pressed a button, and a miniature screen lit up. “You see, I am not actually from New York.” She pressed another button and glanced at the screen. “As you hear what I say, you may have the urge to be frightened, but I assure you that no harm will befall you.”
Sean leaned forward; his brow furrowed. “What are you talking about? What’s that thing?” He tried to reach over to her but fell back. “What the…”
“Do not panic, I simply needed a slight impairment of your mobility until I could complete my explanation.”
“My mobility?” Sean tried to rock forward but fell back again. “What did you do?”
“Sean, you are unharmed. I added nanites to your drink. They executed two separate tasks, neither of which will cause you any long term harm. As you have discovered, one of the tasks was to inhibit the motor skills needed to make your lower body move as you wish.”
“What the hell?” Sean shouted. “Who are you? What are you? Some kind of space alien? Oh crap, you’re going to experiment on me, aren’t you? Am I being abducted? Kevin was right! You are the evil twin! You’re not going to eat my brain, are you?”
