A Predator by William Mansfield
A significant weekend in Alex Wright’s life begins with the public viewing of his warehouse renovation and ends with a cry for help from an 83-year-old woman being foreclosed and thrown out of her home. Two murders and an encounter with a ruthless Russian oligarch lead our hero into a search through Baja California for the man with the answers.

What Inspired You to Write Your Book?
This is the 9th story in the Alex Wright series. In 2012 the nation continued to deal with the aftermath of the financial collapse of 2007-2008. Alex attempts to help someone caught in the web of predator financing. It's a story of the times.
How Did You Come up With Your Characters?
My main character, Alex Wright, is how I envision a surfing real estate appraiser from Laguna Beach, California. In this book he is now 42 years old. With each story, new characters appear to further the plot. Hopefully the recurring people may even be characters you recognize from your own life.
“She’s dead,” I said.
“Who’s dead? What do you mean, Alex?” Heather asked.
“Maureen, Maureen Kelly,” I said as if there was a need to clarify which Maureen. “I, I can’t believe it. She was so happy yesterday. When I arrived, there was a black and white parked in front of her house and crime scene tape across her front yard. I asked the officer if he knew where Maureen was, and what had happened. He said there was a gas explosion and fire. He asked who I was, and my relationship to Mrs. Kelly. He told me she’s dead and that it was a homicide.”
